Prekindergarten Family Engagement Plan

Hunt ISD shall develop, implement, and make available on the district website a family engagement plan to assist the district in achieving and maintaining high levels of family involvement and positive family attitudes toward education. An effective family engagement plan creates a foundation for the collaboration of mutual partners, embraces the individuality and uniqueness of families, and promotes a culture of learning that is child centered, age appropriate, and family driven.


Hunt ISD shall:

 

Facilitate family to family support through activities such as:

  • Teachers utilize district websites and social media platforms to share information with families.
  • Teachers organize and host class activity events and extend invitations to families of students.
  • Teachers reach out to families by attending functions and events that are important in the lives of the students.
  • Teachers invite families to start the day with their children in the cafeteria at breakfast.
  • Families are invited to attend field trips and other academic activities during the day.

 

Establish a network of community resources through activities such as:

  • School counselor coordinates services with needed community organizations such as our local Wesley Nurse.
  • Teachers connect families with local programs that will benefit the family such as the
  • weekly English literacy group.
  • School nurse provides information for our families regarding student health.
  • Teachers offer activities with community partners such as the local fire department and the local produce market.

 

Increase family participation in decision-making through activities such as:

  • Prekindergarten families are included in the Parent Teacher Student Association.
  • Prekindergarten families are encouraged to serve as volunteers on the campus.
  • Prekindergarten families serve on our Site-Based Decision Making Committee and provide input through annual surveys.

 

Equip families with tools to enhance and extend learning through activities such as:

  • Teachers provide families with enrichment activity ideas to reinforce learning at home.
  • Teachers provide feedback regarding student growth at parent conferences and share ways to support that growth.
  • Families have access to curriculum information through online resources and have regular feedback through the class dojo.
  • Teachers create monthly newsletters including upcoming activities and ideas for learning activities at home.
  • Teachers host evening reading and math nights for the families.

 

Develop staff skills in evidence-based practices that support families in meeting their learning benchmarks through activities such as:

  • Learning and behavior data is shared with families through the class dojo and the CLI Engage platform.
  • Teachers participate in regular professional development to learn about best practices for the early childhood classroom.

 

Evaluate family engagement efforts and use evaluations for continuous improvement through activities such as:

  • School personnel utilize sign-in sheets to monitor family attendance at events.
  • Student growth data is measured and shared with families to ensure effectiveness.
  • School personnel engage with families during the annual comprehensive needs assessment process which drives the campus improvement plan.
