Hola! Hi!
It's me, Mrs. Weinstein! For those of you who don't know me, this is my 21st year at the Hunt School. I teach ESL, English as a Second Language. It's been my privilege and honor to teach English to students who are from Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia, and even one from Russia.
I graduated from Baylor University with a B.S. in psychology. My first career was in the travel agency business, where one of the perks was free or reduced priced travel. I took full advantage of these opportunities and traveled to many places in the world. Later, I received my teaching certification through UTSA.
My goal is to provide instruction in the knowledge and skills of the foundation and enrichment curriculum in a manner that is linguistically accommodated (communicated, sequenced, and scaffolded) commensurate with the student's levels of English language proficiency to ensure that the student learns the knowledge and skills in the required curriculum. In other words, I teach my students English while they are learning math, social studies, science, etc. along with all of the other students.
ESL is fun! We share each other's cultures, so that there is a full appreciation of what everyone has to offer. It's not easy to learn a second language, but once the students know English they are well on their way to a successful future.
