Guidance Curriculum
The purpose of a guidance curriculum is to assist students in the development
of skills they need to enhance their personal, social, educational, and career development.
We have implemented a developmental guidance and counseling program that
follows a model from the Texas Education Agency. This program is designed to help
students at each grade level acquire knowledge and skills in the following content areas:
Gifted and Talented Program
A gifted or talented student is defined in the Texas Education code as " a child or youth who
performs or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment
when compared with others of the same age, experience, or environment and who: (1) exhibits
high performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area: (2) possesses an
unusual capacity for leadership; or (3) excels in a specific academic field."
The Gifted and Talented Program at Hunt ISD welcomes nominations of students throughout
the school year. Family members or others familiar with the student may nominate
them by picking up a form at Hunt School which asks for anecdotal evidence
and parental persmission for testing and evaluation.

to gifted and talented students and their education/development.
