Video Editing
Brief description : Movie Trailer Spoofs
After watching a variety of famous movie trailers and discussing the definition of parody (an imitation or representation of an original usually humorous) and the concept of "spoofing" , the students will work in collaborative groups to discuss and critique the examples of spoofs other classes have made in the past. Students will discuss what makes a parody work, what to look for, and how to approach the subject matter. They will then choose a famous movie to spoof, breakng it down into the most famous elements in order to skew it to their oen concepts.
Unit Overview
Students will exercise upper level thinking skills by working in collaborative groups to discuss and evaluate what goes into a parody, then in groups will create, script, storyboard, shoot, and edit their own movie trailer spoofs.
Objectives:
A. Students will research famous movie trailers; their genres, stars, filming techniques, music scores, and view sample clips.
B. Students will divide into groups and collaboratively brainstorm ideas, decide upon a famous movie, write a treatment, script and storyboard their spoofs of the trailer.
C. Students will film their shots, using their knowledge of
camera skills and techniques including camera moves, angles, rules for composing shots, continuity, line of action, lighting, and good composition.
D. Students will import their film and edit adding, intertitles, music, transitions, and effects.
E. Students will share their films and critique each other's final products saving them in different formats; DVD, web, CD. Best films will be voted upon and submitted to the Austin Student Film Festival.

Procedure
1. Students will discuss the definition of parody and the concept of "spoofing:" and then view samples of spoofs done by other classes in the past, discussing what makes up a parody/spoof and the importance of using famous elements and scenes in the spoof to recreat a humorous parody of the original.
2. Students will divide into collaborative groups, brainstorm ideas, and submit the selected idea in Treatment form to the producer (teacher) for evaluation and approval.
3. Once approved, students will create a storyboard of their treatment using their video editing manual to come up with the different shots,etc and script their intertitles which will be submitted to the producer for evaluation and approval.
4. Students will fill out a pre-production sheet with the talent they have enlisted for their movie, what sets and locatins they will use for filming and needed costumes and plots and submit the forms to the producer for evaluation and approval.
5. Students will schedule and film their shots, importing and checking dailies to accept as is or schedule a reshoot.
6. Once film is shot and imported, they will edit their movies adding transitions, intertitles, effects, music, and credits.
7. Students will evaluate their own work and the work of the other students deciding on the best films to submit to the film festival.
8. Students will save their completed projects in several different formats burning to CD, DVD, and placing film clips on the school website.

Evaluation
Closure is the evaluation and discussion of the students final projects using the rubrick of your choice. These are some things taken from the Austin Student Film Festival evaluation tool to keep in mind when evaluating:

6th Grade keyboarding and Computer Lit
History of Technology
Timeline: 2 -3 weeks

Objectives:
A. Students will be given an individual assignment to research and find timelines pertaining to the development of technology throughout history.
B. Students will then divide into groups and evaluate the information they have found deciding which are the most important contributions to be further researched. C.Students will organize their group prioritizing and managing while assigning tasks to different group members.

Each group will be responsible for:
1. Researching their assigned period of tech. history
2. Evaluating and condensing that list
3. Researching the remaining events in more detail
4. Creating a powerpoint
5. Sharing the powerpoint and teaching the class

Procedure:
A. Students and teacher will discuss different kinds of technologies and their progression: ex: telephone
B. Students and teacher will discuss computer technology and its progression as they understand it
C. Students will search for and find historical computer timelines.

Grade 2 Book Project - Me Fairy Tales
The student uses typing skills learned in keyboarding to write a story that will be turned into a hard bound book to take home. Art Teacher will collaborate with the computer teacher to help the students with their illustrations.
The student is expected to:
1. pick out a fairy tale to relate with themselves as the main character. Ex: Sleeping Chandra or Trey Hood
2. write a plot synopsis for the teacher to review to make sure they have a good understanding of the storyline
3. develop a prewrite with beginning, middle, and ending
4. type their stories using a word processor creating a rough draft
5 edit their stories
6. publish their stories in hard book copy
7. share their stories with classmates and parents

1. create a super hero from a fruit and a super villain from an insect and develop a story line.
Ex: Super Strawberry and Wicked Worm
2. write a plot synopsis for the teacher to review to make sure they have a good understanding of the storyline
3. develop a prewrite with beginning, middle, and ending
4. type their stories using a word processor creating a rough draft
5 edit their stories
6. publish their stories in hard book copy
